Tough practice
Had a tough swim practice tonight. Coach called it "calorie-burning", and it really was. Started with:
500m warm up, followed by:
200m free
2 x1000m, divide as:
200m free 3 times at 4'
50m free easy, 30 sec rest
50m all out at 55" x 2
50m free easy
200m IM
That IM was a killer. Then we rested 1 min., then did it all over again.
Followed by 10 x 100 m descending (2 at 2', 2 at 1'55" etc). But we only had time for 5. Total distance was 3,200m.

Favorite awards blogs
My favorite awards season blogs are The Envelope (L.A. Times) and Carpetbagger (New York Times). I tend to look at those once a day, while the awards bonanza is going on. Those are also great jumping off points to other stories and blogs.
The Envelope is just a straight-forward "awards blog", and a great place to keep up with the announcements, awards calendar, etc. The Carpetbagger also has all the entertainment stories (TV, movies, music) published in the New York Times. They're both a great way to keep up with what's going on...

Awards Season
It's awards season once again, and Los Angeles just goes crazy for about two months. If you don't live here, picture Easter, Christmas, 4th of July, Hanukkah, and most other holidays rolled into one, and spread out through six to eight weeks, and you get an idea of how important this is for the people who live here.
The media goes into it big time, with all local publications, web sites, blogs, delving into it as if it was the story of the century. Here, it is certainly the story of the year...
I get into it myself. I'm a movie fanatic, and watch almost everything out there, from stupid Hollywood comedies to very serious documentaries and foreign movies. My preference is usually for the so-called "independent" film circuit, and I tend to devour every movie done out of the big studio system that gets a chance of being distributed to local theaters.
